We have a little Christmas advent calendar (that I forgot to take pictures of) and Ryan gets to open a box every day. There is a treat (gummy vitamin, ha!) and something fun to do. Usually it is read a Christmas book or something super low key, but one day it said decorate a ginger bread house. So I had to document his first gingerbread house with pictures. Ryan thought it was so fun to get to smoosh candy and cereal around the frosting, and to sneak some.
I thought it was pretty hilarious how serious they were about the whole thing.
Here's a tip- hot glue the walls and roof together before starting. Your 3 year old will lose interest if he has to sit and wait for the walls to dry. They take forever. PS- I've been told, lovingly, that next year our house won't be from a kit. Kit houses apparently aren't real gingerbread houses. Oh brother.
how fun! we just read a scripture and put out a piece of the nativity with our advent calendar ... i think joseph would feel pretty short-changed if he learned you guys did treats & activities.
