Dear Emma,

You are 5 months old! Your sweet little life has gone by so quick! Things are changing so fast, you are hitting milestones left and right. I'm a little sad to say goodbye to your perfectly round bald spot because you started to roll. You roll all over the place! Your hair can safely grow in now. You also started solids yesterday. I love that for over a year, my body has been the only thing to sustain you. I feel this great sense of motherhood and womanhood that I was able to keep you alive and thriving. While we did have some bumps along the road, we did it! While I'm not too excited for the sticky gooey messes that are here, I am excited for you to start this new part of life. And your brother cracks up the whole time you eat. He loves watching you smear sweet potatoes all over. You also started sleeping through the night. (Insert choir of angels singing "Hallelujah!!") Two plus weeks of 12 or more hours a night. I felt like a new woman. I know it might not last, but boy oh boy I sure love it when it does. You are the happiest in the mornings. You coo and squeal and smile. We love it! You are still mesmerized by ceiling fans. You get so excited when you see them spinning above you. You find them where ever we go. Restaurants, shops, houses, you are always craining your neck until you find one. You started to suck your thumb!! It melts me. I'm so glad you found a way to soothe your self, since you were never a huge fan of your binki. Hopefully you won't still be sucking it when you are seven, like your mom did. You still love to suck your toes. Especially when your diaper is off. Your feet always flip right up to your mouth when I change you. Ryan loves to hold you, tickle you, smoosh you, etc. He is such a great brother. You love to watch him bounce around you. Some of the nicknames you are called are... Lynna (by me, probably this one the most.) Lynna Loo, Lynna Bug, Nynna, Baby Em (by your brother.) and Emma Lemma, oh aaand stinky pants. But in my defense, EVERY messy diaper you have is a blow out. Seriously.

So sad that I started this when you were 5 months and now you are 7 months! Had to add to the nicknames... your brother calls you 'chicken' all the time. It is said with love. He always asks, "Is the little chicken awake?" He loves you so much. He always wants to be near you, or holding onto your hand or foot. We are all sick right now, so I am trying to have him keep his distance from you... he hates it.

You will not eat baby food. At all. I've tried and tried. I never thought I would have one of those babies. I always thought something was wrong with the parents who let their babies be in charge of what they ate. Now I have one. You eat grown up food, and you love it. Especially french fries. 

You are starting to crawl. You have the scoot pull with your arm thing down. You've been getting up on your hands and knees a lot, and sometimes surprising me and popping up on your hands and toes with your bum in the air. It is so funny.

You are not frowning, you are chewing on your lips, which you did a lot of while we were in Brazil as  your first two teeth tried to pop through. They are through, and we are all much happier.

Oh yeah, we took you to Brazil, and your sleep has been wacky ever since. I miss those loooonnng stretches. And someday, it would be lovely if you decided to nap regularly. I'm just sayin...

I still have moments almost everyday where I look at your sweet face and cannot believe you are here, and you are ours. I am constantly kissing your sweet cheeks and snuggling your face next to mine. I really can't get enough of you. You warm my heart in a way no one can. I love you little one.
