Ryan and Scott took a trip to Yellowstone together. 45 hours. 2,000 miles. Emma and I stayed home.
They had been planning this trip for months. Talking about it every night, looking at maps. Every single bedtime story had to do with Yellowstone. Ryan was so pumped, Scott couldn't have been prouder to have a boy excited for a National Park road trip. First stop, Grand Teton's National Park. (Look at those arms! Scott said its perfect for a volleyball?)
Yellowstone next, finally!
Animals Ryan saw, "lots of bison, bull moose, black bears, coyotes, deer, squirrel by our tent, elk."

Old Faithful was the only place they got cell service. They would drive there every night to call and say goodnight. One night, Scott called just after Ryan had thrown up everywhere. Poor kid. He was sitting in his car seat, playing with the ipod while Scott told me all the drama of the throwing up. When Scott hung up and got back in the car, he noticed a funny smell. Ryan had gone #1 and #2 while still remaining in his car seat. Scott had 10 minutes till the showers closed at the campsite and not enough gas to get there. With a prayer, some speeding, and the quickest gas fill up ever, they got Ryan cleaned up. Unfortunately, Ry's shower was freezing. I admit I was a little glad Scott had to go through this fiasco. I think it helped him appreciate all the messes I've cleaned up a little more. You can feel bad for someone, but it is a whole different level when you've been there too.

The bear! When they saw the next bear, Scott said, "Look Ry! Another bear!" Ryan said, "I know Dad, I already saw one."

I love how Ryan already has the teenager-who's-so-over-it look down.

Such a fun trip for the boys! (Despite the face Ryan is making in almost all the pictures.) So glad they made it home safe.
