If you know me, you probably know how how much I haven't seen my husband lately. His hours have been cuh-razy.  February and March were exceptionally bad. So as a consolation prize his office treated us to dinner, at a fancy schmancy place we'd never been.
I tried to be sneaky and take pictures. (When Scott asked where I'd pick if I could go out to eat anywhere, I said, P.F. Changs- love me some Mongolian Beef! This was a little different scene.) It didn't seem like the people sitting at the tables around us were the type that thought this place was anything too special, but I thought it was. And I also thought they'd probably think I was a dork for taking pictures- hence the sneaky shots.

Some of our fancy food... I felt like a judge on Chopped. The free bread was my favorite.

My smokin hot date looking GQ.

To make the night even better, my parents babysat the kiddlings and we stayed in an old restored hotel down town. My favorite thing about hotels are the made beds. They are always made perfectly crisp. There is something so satisfying about climbing in a perfectly made bed that I didn't make. I sleep so much better.

Although there was this creepy artwork above the bed. I felt like these guys were 'watching' me all night.

Luckily, I had this handsome man to protect me.  I was just about beside myself with excitement- almost a whole 24 hours with him to myself, no computer or children to share his attention with. It was just what I needed after going solo for so long.
We went exploring through the hotel, which was sort of a bad idea because we had just watched The Shining on TV the week before. Horrible, terrible, scary movie, DON'T WATCH IT!!!!

We went down in the basement of this hotel built in 1906 and it was basically deserted ballrooms, floors that creaked, and black and white photos of people who had graced the hotel back then. (Just like in the movie!!!) I was getting more nervous with each step. Thank goodness it wasn't snowing outside.
This is my scared face in the haunted parlor. I decided it was haunted. Then we heard some teenagers down the hall saying, "red rum! red rum!" I flipped and scurried back up to the stairs.
I cannot handle scary movies like I used to. I'm a baby.

But the pictures did not come off the wall and strangle me in my sleep. Scott slept in- first time in months he got more than 4 hours. I ran 10 miles through the Gaslamp and along the Embarcadero- it was amazing, my first double digit run. I feel so blessed to live in such a great place. We went and saw the Hunger Games before heading back up to our family.  Loved that too!

Lessons learned: P.F. Changs is still my favorite, San Diego Bay is so peaceful in the early morning, drinking a lot of water before a 2.5 hour movie is not the best plan, take painkillers before long runs, DO NOT watch scary movies!
