These two are inseparable. It melts my heart to see the way Ryan adores Scott, and vice versa. Scott is Ryan's hero. 'Daddy' is always the name that gets called out at night. Scott's side of the bed is always the side that the little pajama-ed feet pitter patter to. If Ryan wakes up after Scott has left for work, there are almost always a few tears and reassurances from me that Daddy is, in fact, coming back. This morning my attempts to calm him were answered with, "But I didn't hug or kiss him!" I understand, I'd be sad too.
They play together just about every second Scott is home.
"Daddy, you be a zebra, and I'll be a tiger, ok?"
"Daddy, lets tackle!"
"Daddy, lets do steamroller!"
"Daddy, I'm thinking of an animal..."
This goes on and on. Scott is so good and patient and pretends to be a wildebeest, a lineman, or whatever thing Ryan is dreaming of. The two of them will sit for hours watching youtube clips of Old Faithful going off, buffalos running through fields, bears climbing on cars, F16's taking off, cheetahs hunting, I could go on and on. Sometimes I find out that after I went to sleep, and Scott stayed up late working, Ryan would sneak out of bed- onto his lap at the computer and they would be up for ever watching clips. Scott can't wait to take Ryan to a 'Nashell Park'.
Ryan asks for Scott's stories over and over. I never hear him laugh as hard as I do when they are in Ryan's bed with Scott telling him a story... the giggles come from deep down. All day Ryan tells me, "Daddy will be so excited to see my picture- Daddy will be so happy to see the tower I made...etc." I thought I'd be jealous of having to share Scott, but watching these two only makes my love grow more. I am so blessed.
ps... the last two pictures are from my wonderfully talented friend, Mariah Baddas.

ReplyDeleteToo sweet!
ReplyDeleteI knew the girl who married Scott was in for a treat. He's the best of the best. Ryan is a lucky little guy.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet, Megan, so perfectly written as a love letter to both of your boys. Scott truly is a wonderful daddy! Thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteYou know Penni is anxious to meet you guys at a "Natural Park" - do you think it looks anything like the "Nashell Park" that Ryan is picturing? Did we ever tell you that when we took the girls to Zion National Park last year, after all the anticipation, Penni was disappointed. Do you know why? When we drove around a bit, she said, "Where's the playground???"
